Silverton Road Race 2008 Photos and Results

Thank you to everyone who raced at the 2008 Silverton Road Race!  This course is one of the most challenging on the calendar and everyone who raced should be congratulated for arriving at the start line to take on the challenge.  You can see the official results here.

This year we had a brand new finish line.  The last kilometer was a steady climb topping at about 8% + and the final 200 meters involved hauling yourself over the crest and a false flat sprint of less than 50 meters – producing some very exciting finishes.

Thank you to the sponsors who provided prizes and refreshments: Chris King, the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, Kobos Coffee, Delicious Donuts, Mike Hilbrandt for the trophies and Beth Chase for the kilts.

Thank you to Marion County, Victor Point Elementary School and all the neighbors on the course who were gracious enough to allow us use of some beautiful roads.

We had some fantastic volunteers this year who made racing on a large course with a lot of corners safe and possible.  OBRA runs on volunteers and we greatly appreciate all the officials and marshals who helped us out. We held an informal competition for volunteers that was hotly contested.  The top two teams fought hard but in the end there could be only one winner.  Here are the teams in order of positions filled:

1.  Bridgetown Velo 10
2.  Ironclad 9
3.  Organic Athlete 2
4.  Sorella Forte 2
5.
North River
Racing 2
6.  Life Cycle 1
